Well I work in Park City, and The women there certainly can be the stuck up type as well. The thing about attitude, is that it truly is a mindset, and I have met white trash people in Park City who were every bit a stuck up as someone who is affluent. The only thing, I can say that I've noticed is that people in Summit County area are very easily offended, and are quick to anger. Generalities of course, but compared to the midwest, people in the Park City area, do indeed seem to have something lodged up their .... well you know

People everywhere can be "stuck up" and materialistic. I grew up in a small town in Ohio, and there were stuck up people there too! I went to school in the mid-west, and guess what? There were stuck up people there too. Later, I moved to DC, and what do you know, there were stuck up people there too!
I think there may be a common "look" in Draper, and maybe because the women are always perfectly coiffed, and dressed, people perceive that as stuck up. Though, I personally don't believe you have to leave the house in gross clothes, and plain looking hair to be "down to earth".

I Dont think its draper at all, im not sure why that city is getting singled out. There are plenty of affordable homes in draper. what about cottonwood heights, sandy and salt lake itself. There are plenty of huge million dollar homes all over the place. to single draper out and say its full of stuck up people is stupid. I happen to meet tons of SUPER nice people in draper who dont seem a bit stuck up to me.

I agree with Tim... no matter what town you go to you will find folks that think they are "better than". It is my experience that the people that are the most stuck up, actually have the most to "hide". It's almost like the snobby attitude is a wall to keep you from getting to know how they really are. It is also my opinion that many that appear to be stuck up, do so to give the "perception" they are "better than", in reality they are the most insecure.

I don't really understand what Intermountain Dog is trying to achieve with this post. There's little validity in making sweeping generalizations without citing a single reason or example as to how they've come to this conclusion. Why do you think the women in Draper are "high maintenace" or "stuck up"? Draper might be perceived as an affluent area, and sure there are million dollar homes here, but there are also plenty of apartment complexes where people are only renting, and there are many single family homes for sale under $200,000. Have you ever walked inside the local Smiths grocery store? I've never seen anyone in there "fully made-up with hair coiffed and 5 kids in tow". I live in Draper (in a modest home) and I've often seen the young women in my neighborhood out walking with their kids in strollers in mis-matched clothing, no makeup on and their hair just pulled back in ponytails. Those same women may look well-groomed when they go to church on Sunday, but what's wrong with that? I'm from overseas and not a member of the church but I've never experienced anything other than friendliness from "the women of Draper" that I've met.

most members of the church I have met have been nothing but nice, even after knowing that im not and really dont ever plan on it. I think the church has nothing to do with it honestly. I say let them get as dressed up as they want. I sure dont mind looking

Coming from a place that endorses the public wear of pajamas and slippers, I look forward to seeing some well-maintained mothers and their well-mannered children when I move to SLC.

Oh...never fear, that is prevelant here too!! Haven't quite figured out WHY yet. Don't count on the well mannered children either. That is a very hit or miss proposition. Usually more miss...
By the way, I used to live up your way years ago!

Wait, why are they stuck up? Because they don't work, they have several children, they don't have a lot of time on their hands, and they try and maintain a nice household? Sorry, I think it's all in your head on this one. Seriously, why must people complain about "LDS" people just because they're different from themselves? Why must they label them "LDS" before regular people, neighbors? If you really can't stand people who try to live good lives according to their own standards, stop paying to much attention to them. It seems to me like you're the one who can't keep up with the Jones,' stop complaining about them.
I know plenty of "low-maintenance" Latter-day Saints. Don't blame their religion or their culture, because that's completely irrelevant. In general, it seems like compared to other cities, the valley is very casual in dress. You don't see a lot of suit+briefcase businessman walking down the road, no overly fancy or expensive exotic clothes, just normal casual wear.
