Default State Roads

We will be moving East the end of August Driving a 12 foot truck on U.S. 50. Since we have 9 days to make the trip I thought we could take in some sites. Brice Canyon is my choice. Any suggestions on A route to take from Delta UT? I should also ask is this something a flat lander wants to do

From Delta to Bryce Canyon? If that's what you mean, here's your best route:

Take US 50 eastbound to I-15.
Take I-15 southbound to SR 20, south of Beaver.
Take SR 20 eastbound to US 89, where you turn right.
Take US 89 southbound to SR 12 and make a left.
Take SR 12 eastbound to SR 63, where you make a right.
SR 63 southbound leads you into the park.

These were just the simplified directions; here's the link to the directions from Google Maps (from: Delta, Utah to: Bryce Canyon, Utah - Google Maps)

Hmm. I'm going to imagine there will be a few curves and grades that might be a little difficult for a rental truck. If you feel a little more confident in driving those then I think you should be fine. But that's just a guess of mine.

MWheelock,

Here's another suggestion that might be easier in a rental truck. Take US 50 to I-15. Drive southbound to I-70 near Cove Fort. Take I-70 eastbound through Salina and over to Green River. Twenty miles east of Green River at Crescent Junction head south to Moab and Arches National Park. Moab is about 35 miles south of this junction. The two lane highway south to Moab is pretty flat and straight until you get to the last few miles outside Moab when you descend into a canyon. You get to the turn off to both Canyonlands National Park and Arches National Park before you get to Moab. Both are worth seeing. I have a big personal preference for Arches. The drive through each park might be a little difficult with the truck you describe. The drive to each park is not going to be that tough.

I don't know if that helps you. But you would enjoy seeing both.

I think the Moab option is a better choice. Near Bryce they are windy 2 lane roads, doable, not enjoyable.
Have you ever used Google Earth? You can use it to see your route, very cool. I use it before all road trips!
