We are planning a camping trip Memorial weekend and need your help...we want to go somewhere near Cedar City/Saint George area. We don't want to camp at a spot that has you assigned to parking stalls-not camping in our book. We are looking to camp in a secluded spot that has a lake and we will be doing the down and dirty tent style camping...Have any good ideas?
We don't want to go to Bryce or Zion either. Thank you for all of your help in advance. Thank you, Michele |

One spot you might consider is to go across the mtn from Cedar, past Cedar Breaks and go to Panguitch Lake. There were little bare shanty-cabins many years ago but I don't know what they have these days. The lake is at 6600 feet and is very pretty as it is rare in Utah to find a lake surrounded by trees. Oh, the word "Panguitch" translates to "Big Fish". |

Take a look at Deer Haven campground. It's a relatively isolated forest service campground that is little used compared to most in the area. And you are close to Navajo and Panguitch lakes and there are some other 'ponds' in the area that have fish but require some searching to find.

You might consider the Honeycombs up around upper Enterprise Reservoir.

Check out Navajo Lake in Cedar Breaks or Kolob Reservoir outside of Virgin.

Kolob Reservoir, Gunlock Reservoir, Navajo Lake, Panguitch lake, The resavoir above Paragonah (Near Parowan), Quail Creek Resevoir, and Sand Hallow resevoir
Those are the ones that are within an hours drive of either St. George or Cedar City that have water. |
