Default Questions on alcohol laws and other regulations

I know Utah has some stricter(or unusual) laws regarding alcohol(Is it true you could only buy alcohol at three state operated liquer stores?). I was wondering if there were other types of businesses/industry it regulates more strict or different than other states? For example, tobacco sales, adult oriented businesses, or whatever. I also wanted to ask if there were any indian casinos in the state of Utah? I would like to hear about any laws or rules you may think are unusual compared to the rest of the country. Thanks.

Utah's liquor laws are different than most other states. Liquor is more strictly regulated. Hard liquor and wine cannot be purchased in grocery stores. They must be purchased in state-run liquor stores. There are far more than 3 such stores though. There are perhaps 12-20 such stores in the Salt Lake Valley. There are multiple stores in Ogden and the Provo/Orem area as well. There is a state run liquor store in virtually every city of any size in the state. Beer with a 3.2% alcohol content can be purchased in virtually every grocery store in the state. Many restaurants possess a liquor license and can sell beer and hard liquor to customers ordering a meal.

One must be nineteen to purchase tobacco and this can be done at grocery stores, convenience stores, or a few special "smoke shops" that exist.

There are no Indian Casinos or legalized gambling of any form in Utah. Indian Casinos cannot exist in a state that does not allow any form of gambling. It is my understanding that Utah and Hawaii are the only two states in the USA that do not allow any form of gambling including lotteries. A number of people drive up to Idaho and surrounding states to purchase lottery tickets.

That's about it when it comes to "unusual laws".

Utah recently ended the "private club" law. So now our bars are just bars. The private club law was too complicated for me to explain. Now to enter a bar you have to have your ID scanned. Using a fake ID will cost you big.

Wendover, Nevada with full Vegas style gambling is 90 minutes west of SLC. Evanston WY has a race track, and several adult orientated shops. Wendover also has these. Mesquite, NV is 5 hours from SLC and Vegas is about 7.

You can purchase porn (minus the Crotch shot) in Utah. Adult supplies are also easily purchased.

Weird law? Openly carrying a gun is a-ok.

You cannot purchase kegs here, its illegal, you have to drive to Evanston (about 90 minutes away) for that. Don't get busted on the drive back, lots of people make the trip every weekend.
