Is drug usage low in Utah?
Just curious, is drug usage, particularly meth, quite a bit lower in Utah than other states? Any particular drug that does seem to be used in Utah regularly?
Seems with the LDS influence, it might be a bit lower than other states? Or no?

Actually, I believe that meth use is a bit higher in Utah... I could be wrong though. I am not particularly well versed in meth usage.

I don't know anything about street drug usage but I am pretty sure there is a big big problem with perscription drug abuse. I even have family members that have got caught up in that and I have heard about and read endless accounts of pharmacies being robbed for oxycontin.
Well not nothing I guess. Those same family members did get into some of the street crap too whem they were living in Orem. And I have heard Meth is a problem here too. But in general I think its all relative to where you live.

No, meth use is really high here. Prescription drug abuse (particularly pain pills) is among the highest in the nation too.

Yup, this is true. Much of it is the homeless and/or mentally ill who hang around downtown in the vicinity of Pioneer Park (meth that is). You find the higher incidence of Rx med abuse in the suburbs. I think it may be partially due to the fact that alcohol use is discouraged, so Rx drugs are a more socially acceptable way to get high - although very dangerous. A lot of people have died from mixing the wrong drugs together.

I would venture to say(this is not statistical fact, only opinion ) with the high class tourist areas like Park City, that it's probably easier to find higher end drugs like cocaine as well.......

I don't know the statistics, but I'm sure drug use is extrememly high in Utah, considering there are a lot of rebellious LDS members there.

Stop with all the facts and figures, you guys are making my head spin.
Check out the Top 101 lists on this site, there is only one city in Utah in the list Top 101 cities with the largest percentage of people in hospitals or wards for drug/alcohol abuse (population 1,000+) and it is near St. George.
The list Top 101 cities with the largest percentage of people in homes or halfway houses for drug/alcohol abuse (population 1,000+) has no Utah cities.

That probably means they just aren't getting to rehab and don't show up in the list. The problem is not just illicit street drugs...but prescribed meds also.

This post was about illegal drugs. Soccer moms aren’t robbing 7-11s for drug money.
Even if they don't show up in rehab they do in hospitals, so those numbers would reflect an out of control problem as many of you are trying to say.
