We are currently living in Maryland and am about to list our house to relocate to St. George, Utah. We plan to drive across country and the rent for awhile until we purchase a house. We are concerned about traveling with our family dog which is a 6 year old German Shepherd. Has anyone traveled with a large dog across country? Will we have any problems finding a motel? The AAA Travel Book seems to list motels that allow pets, but most say only small dogs.
Please advise. I would hate to travel and see my wife sleeping in the motel and me sleeping with our dog in the car every night. |

A friend of mine and his wife travel with two big puppies all the time. He calls around and generally finds pet friendly hotels. They bring crates for their dogs which assures the hotel owner that Fido won't be running amok in their rooms.
Also, I see alot of pets at Koa Kampgrounds. You can rent one of their "Kabins" for about $50 per night. I enjoy those more than hotel rooms! Hope this helps. |

and we usually stay at Clarion Hotels. They are almost all pet friendly. Good luck!
