I don't know about Texas but alcohol prices in Utah are substantially higher than in the surrounding states.

Hi - I've lived in southwestern Utah for about 5 years now and am not Mormon. I have lots of friends both LDS and non. Your children will not be shunned or looked down upon. Mormon's are nothing if not family oriented. Liquor in Utah is very strange. All liquor is state regulated - you can ONLY buy liquor at the state run liquor store. You cannot ship wine or any other liquor into the state - it will be confiscated. It's a rip off to order a drink at one of the restaurants that have a liquor license. They can only dispense 1 oz and they really don't even put in 1 oz so you are wasting your money to buy a drink at a restaurant. Many restaurants do have licenses to sell wine and beer. You can buy beer in the grocery store. By law a restaurant can only sell you one drink at a time, so you can't but a Jack and Coke plus a shot of Jack to add to your J&C that doesn't have any Jack in it.
) Don't know why the liquor industry would even try to make money in Utah. ) Lots of people drink but it's pretty much hidden. |
