My wife and I only moved to Vancouver in August so we are still relatively unfamiliar with the area and I have a question.

My 16-year-old nephew from Montana is coming to live with us for the summer. He is a good kid who has always gotten straight As in school. He wants to get a job for the summer while he is here.

My question is this: I think he has TREMENDOUS potential and I would like to see him get in a job that is not your average burger-flippin', pizza-deliverin' job (Nothing against these jobs. That's what i did at his age. I just think he is capable of better.)

Does anyone have any ideas as to where we might be able to look? I think he would enjoy something indoor or outdoors. There are teenagers that work at my place of employment but unfortunately, they have an age limit of eighteen.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

Skill set?

Interests?

Age 18 is a bit of a deal breaker in WA, but maybe someone can find a productive learning environment for him.

As a homeschooler, we had our kids design and build houses at that age. Prior to that they were running our fruit farm & doing yard on rental maint properties (ages 8-12) and then welding, machining, woodworking, computer design, electronics, ages 12+

building 50 mpg 'grease-cars' @ age 15 @ 16 (look in your neighbor's brier patch for a 'Stealth-Rabbit' I have got several for free.

The Clark County Fair hires kids 14-18-they hire about 150-200 for the 10 days in August. Go to www.clark.wa.gov and look under the z-a categories for the clark county fair & look under jobs.
