Default It is worth living in Camas if you work in Hillsboro?

Next year my company is moving to Hillsboro and currently reside in Camas. I love everything about Camas, especially the schools. I know the commute is a nightmare, but hear a lot of folks do this commute everyday. I been to Hillsboro and trying to find things I like about the area, but really don't care for the area. I know I will miss out on quality time with the kids if I do the commute and really don't want that to happen.
What would you do if you were in my shoes? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Friends of mine used to live in Battle Ground and commute to Hillsboro. They absolutely hated it from the start. Mind you, these were SF transplants and well used to long commutes into Silicon Valley too.

Yea I imagine the commute will only get worst with all the up and coming road construction. Plus we could see bridge tolls in the future. This will be a 9-5 shift.

The CRC is still up in the air despite what the news is saying. There is a huge budget deficit that nobody can adequately explain how to fix other then "Tolls." The problem is tolls are going to be $10/car each way if they it up.

To make matters worse, there are plenty of independent studies that say the problems the current I-5 has will not be any better with a new bridge.

Don't Do It! I had to drive from Beaverton to 205 and Mill Plain in Vancouver last week and it honest to God took me 2 hours....I started at 4:30 in Beaverton and was back in my room at 6:30. It's a real mess just getting to the tunnel from the 26 and that's when the real wait starts.

Pilot, was this on Friday? If so, that was a crazy commuting day, took me over 2 hours to get from Clackamas to West Vancouver. This drive usually takes me 40-45 minutes coming home.

To the OP, why don't you call the carpool number, see if there is someone you can ride with, and maybe pick their brain about how long the commute actually takes. Going out at 6am I would think you would be okay, it's the return that would probably be a bugger. Would your employer consider letting you adjust your hours so you can leave at 3:30-4?

That comment added nothing to this discussion, OG.

As much as I love Camas, too, I would'nt do it. It's not worth it spending your life in a car. Your a.m. commute might be okay, but the p.m. would be bad.
