Default Georgia-Pacific plant in Camas

Does anyone know what Georiga-Pacific plant in Camas produces and dumps in the atmosphere. It's surrounded by the nice area, but I personally would not want to live near it. I drove on Highway 14 which took me right to the plant. I see houses and condos for sale in this area. Does anyone know if it is safe to live in this area?
Thanks.

It is a pulp/paper mill that has operated for well over 100 years. It has scaled production back substantially in recent year but still produces paper towel, tissue, and paper. People have talked about occasional odor problems but I have been in and out of the area for a couple of years and never smelled anything unusual. There are some air and water emissions but they are said to be within guidelines and not an issue.

it produces paper. It is supposed to be mainly steam comming from their stacks but they have a place for their employees to wash their cars off after sitting each day while at work. I have heard that it ruins the paint job on their cars and leave a black powder on them. I think that I remember reading about it in the columbian newspaper awhile ago. You might check their site out and see if you can find it in the archives.

so living in Camas would be out of the question then due to the pollution? if cars end up with black poweder, i'm assuming that black powder ends up in the ground, people's wells, and eventually in people. i don't want to have three arms.

I have a commercial building less than 200' from the mill, and it has been standing since 1935. Haven't had to do any abnormal work on it due to corrosion. I haven't grown any extra arms, but sometimes the folks who emerge from the taverns don't look so good. Compared to the acid rain that the ' exempt' PGE coal plant in Hermiston is sending down the gorge, the Camas mill is a tightly regulated environmental steward. There have been some dangerous releases of ammonia, but not lately. The Mill is in the 'waining days' of its productive life, just like most of us .

BTW, the mill effects very little of Camas, as prevailing winds are from the east. So... Vancouver and Portland get the majority of fallout, excluding the Camas areas directly down wind. (~ 3% of Camas). The Portland 'Greens' do not tolerate much.
