I need to be close to public transportation, restaurants, and shopping centers because that is where I will seeking out employment pending other arrangments. I will be looking for a affordable appartment in the same areas,do you know where I could find a nice clean area to live in and work? Thank you for all your help.

Try looking in the Cascade Park area. It's clean, has good bus service and plenty of shopping/restaurants. There are many apartments and rental houses in the area within walking distance to stores. The Fircrest area would fit your needs too. Both of these area's are on the east side of Vancouver.

Default moving to vancouver

We live in vancouver and agree that Cascade Park is closer to the Mall but it's way east! Take a trip out here for a look see trip. The West side of town has great I5 access while the East has better 205 access as the bridge is best since it has not lift span - into Portland.

There are some nice apartments very close to "the mall" (transit center too), but be careful. some are not so nice. There are a lot of creepy people out there, and you need to get a place with good lighting and security. Cascade Park can be better, but then you'd be hiking to the transit center, which is not to near apartments OR work.

Get yourself some self defense classes and carry appropriate methods to dissuade advances. Unfortunately there was an early morning stalker / rapist in the Van Mall area a few yrs ago. Ground floor apartments are not too safe... same problems near Clackamas Town Center. I guess the scumbags know their territory
