Default Battle Ground Info Needed

Hello,

We are moving to Battle Ground after a year living in Vancouver. To be honest, I haven't even seen all of Vancouver yet and mostly existed in the southern part of it. Upon our quick drive through Battle Ground to look at the house we are buying, I noticed that there is a movie theater, safeway, fred meyer, jack in the box, taco bell, starbucks, dollar tree. I was wondering if someone could tell me the stores and restaurants in the city. Are there any retail stores where you can buy clothings like Kohls, Target, Kmart, etc? What major food chains (restaurants included) are there? Are there any hardware places like Home Depot? I realize that for many of these things I will have to drive into Vancouver but it is nice to know what is right in your own little town. I tried finding listings on qwestdex and google and it wasn't showing everything there. Also, is there a defined city center or downtown area or is it just mostly houses and stores? Any recomendations of recreation with kids would also be great as I have 3 little ones.

Thanks!
Sarah

Default Battle Ground

First off welcome to BG. I moved here from Vancouver in 2000 after growing up in Portland. When I moved here there were only about 9,000 people and now there is over 16,000. That is just in the city limits which is small compared to the actual BG zip code.

There are not any retail stores as you mention for clothing. you can travel down 503 to the east side of Vancouver, or go down I-5 to Salmon Creek real quick. There is the Fred Meyers and that is it at this point. At the very west end of BG when it goes from 4 lanes to 2 lanes there will be a Home Depot being built this spring.

As far as sit down dining places there are not many as of right now. There is a nice Italian place Leonardo's, a decent Mexican place, Rocky's pizza is well known, and there is a new family sit down at the movie center complex called the BG Grill. There are some Thai food places, and two chinese places. There are no so called large chains for food other than the traditional fast foods.

Oh yeah we actually have 3 Starbucks here, imagine that.

I read I believe in Sundays paper that a home depot is supposed to be going up in battle ground. Nice little town that has grown a lot since I have been here in Vancouver almost going on 12 yrs. Have friends who reside there and a friend who is a teacher at the elementary school and they absolutely love it there.
