Just to make sure I'm clear on this. What would be considered the nicer "closer in" neighborhoods?

By that I mean closer to I-5, Kaiser Hospital, Veterans Hospital, shopping, big box stores, etc.
I'm talking about maybe 5 to 15 minutes to most of the places mentioned.

Would some Minnehaha neighborhoods best fit that description? I would like to know the names
of areas that are nice, but closer in. I want to minimize winter driving, can't do Battleground, Camas, etc.

Thank You!!

I vote for Shumway or Arnada, you know I love our down town area!

The good, very close to Hayden Island shopping via I-5, and easy to get to the airport. Using the 500 has also been very useful. The best walk score in Vancouver.

The bad, you cant really use I-5 during peak hours, so lunch time seems to be fine, and after 7pm.
Housing inventory is very low, the housing market is insane. I keep watching houses list and sell in the same day, and they don't come up often unless they are really over priced.

see my circled Neighborhood map
http://www.city-data.com/forum/membe...ghborhoods.jpg

Me son is finishing a home in Central Park, (nice home (with a view) and good neighbors)

Look in Hudson Boy and Edgewood park. The furthest I would go would be Carter Park.

Many parts of Minnehaha will work as well (including the site we are planning a senior cottage village) . Consider places near Leverich Park (If you can deal with noise from I-5)

for 10 yrs I had a farm adjacent to Hazel Dell Park and Heritage (poor) farm. It was GREAT, but was Car Dependent (infrequent bus service)

Stealth Rabbit, are the red lines drawn through as a "no no zone"???

Love the maps, we're going there soon

Red lines are not ALL bad, just not my 'preferred'.

I would just avoid lower 4th Plain (1-5 to I-205 and 5 blocks north or south of 4th Plain) ironically, I own some properties there... Got an offer today! poof, GONE (I hope)

We had a great hoime in Fircrest and one of my kids has a very nice place in Hudson Bay / Central Park.

You will be able to tell the 'bad areas' (very few). also look at the crime maps.

Ah, I see.

Thank you for the clarification.

Good luck selling it, that would be nice!!

When we were planning to move up here, I would have done anything for a map of "move here, not there" with all the bad spots "x'd" out! Finally got one, in Vancouver anyway!

Trulia has been forthcoming with red zones, so that's been helpful in all the towns we're looking at.
