My husband and I are looking for a neighborhood in Vancouver that is a good fit for us. He wants 2-5 acres of land to build a home with a basement and shop. I want good proximity to Portland, shopping, entertainment, and restaurants. We're trying to come to a compromise. I work in the area between downtown and Van Mall. My husband is still on the East Coast, but plans to find work in Vancouver or slightly north of.

I'm a little nervous about Battleground because of the religious influences and how they impact funding for public schools. I've heard Ridgefield still has land available.

Your thoughts, suggestions?
