Anybody know what caused the massive amount of thick smoke to suddenly fill the east side yesterday afternoon between about 4:00 and 7:00ish? Was there a major grass fire nearby or is it more smoke from the gorge? There wasn't any wind here yesterday so I really doubt it was the latter. It also smelled like grass, not so much like wood smoke (though the upper sky was getting quite smoky by about 11:00 AM.) Craplumbian didn't send a paper today and there wasn't anything on the "local" (out-of-state hubbed (don't get me started)) news broadcasts.

Observed in the area between Mill Plain and NE 28th street/between NE 112th and NE 162nd avenues.

As of now (09:45 AM Friday) the sky is clear.

I assume it was from the gorge forest fires. I was dropping my kid off at Camas HS for soccer practice at 6 and I could see the haze and smoke on the eastern horizon. I guess the wind just shifted yesterday afternoon.
