I've been watching the weather this Winter trying and get a better idea of things this time of the year. Yes, you've had strings of some cooler, gray days. But I'm also seeing a warming trend with some breaks of sun light. Further south, we've had a very unseasonably warm, dry Winter in Central Cal. There's been very little rain combined with unseasonable heat (70s). We actually need more rain after some severe droughts and fires.

No chance of rain for us for a long time its looking like:

Derek

It's been abnormally dry and a tad warmer than averages. Snow pack on the mountains isn't great. Which isn't good news for all those that rely on the melt for water in the summer drought. Expecting the water conservation and fire warning signs to be at critical this summer.

Things wake up here in February. This year things are waking up a couple of weeks early. February is usually rainy. Weather might be rainy for three more months, or more.

It has been a mild winter so far. These days of dry weather are a bit unusual, I think.

Last year was colderr and wetter.

yup... no chance of rain (via 'optimistic' forecast) for another 40 hrs! (that IS a long time for PNW Feb!)

9 of next 10 days overcast
One day partly cloudy
only 5 with 'optimistic' chance of rain

I do note in My TX (dry) climate... the 10 day 'optimistically' shows slight chance of rain for the long term days. My PNW forecasts often show 'optimistic' Partly cloudy / (slight) chance of sun in the longer range.

Once you get here... if they say rain by noon... Have the woodpile covered by 11:30am. Interesting that here (PNW) it often starts raining at sunrise, where in Colorado, Nebraska, Texas... it seems to prefer to rain at night (as a farmer... I prefer rain during the night ) (I am sure there is a meteorology / climate / pressure / dew point reason)

This winter is not normal (in much of USA), neither was last winter. Thank goodness.

I have used only a fraction of my primary heat firewood this yr. Last yr... truckloads.

Raingear... always keep it handy...

i often think unusual weather in one season predicts unusual weather in the following months. I wonder if we won't have drier and hotter weather here. Didn't we have a drought in 2013 or 2014? This can be really bad for fires.

I hope we get more rain as spring progresses.
