We live north of NE 18TH. We hear a small amount of air noise, and not regularly.

Thanks, silibran. I was wondering about that area since the air traffic map shows planes flying over places like Mill Plain. But the altitude is still relatively high at that point. It's basically a steady decent from there toward their turn at Vancouver Lake. I have heard some locals mentioning noise around Salmon Creek/Felida especially as certain pilots fly lower than they should as they prepare for final approach.

Great point. When I said "retired" I meant commercial airplanes in North America...should have been more specific! 727's are still passenger aircraft in some poorer countries.

I don't have a good feel for PDX freight traffic. I'm sure being a large city it has quite a bit, but don't know how much is coming from the traditional freight hubs like Memphis for FedEX, or UPS from Louisville.
