The United States Geological Service's list of ten volcanos most likely to erupt next includes Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams. All are visible on a clear day from Portland/Vancouver. Of the full list, 7 of them are in Oregon or Washington.

Camas is great...but the homes cost way more then the Fishers Landing area. Plus, most houses have no yard and are vertical. A flat lot is rare in Camas. Two great schools in the Fisher Landing areas are Fisher's Landing and Harmony Elementary.

I think people often think that the newer area of Camas is all on Prune Hill and this just isn't the case. I live in a flat, walkable, neighborhood, our lot is a 1/3 of an acre and houses in our neighborhood start around 300K, the same as most of the Fisher's Landing homes we looked at. Check out Lake Pointe, Sunningdale Gardens, Lake Heights, or Parker Estates, all are flat, with large yards in Camas, starting around 275K-300K.

Question The sex offender issue scares me!

After reading the responses to Mudd I am really freaked out about the whole sex offender discussion...although brief, is there a problem in Vancouver Wa? My husband and I are considering moving there with our son...can anyone elaborate on this issue...we live in Hawaii and there doesn't seem to be much crime on our island...let alone sex offender problems. What is the crime like in Vancouver? I read a lot of positives about the area, is there anything that will help us get a better picture of what to expect? We leave our doors and window unlocked AlWAYS....

Vancouver has more than 160K people, we had a whopping ZERO murders last year. Its extremely safe here. We moved here from Nashville, pop 540K, murders in 2007 - 73 and it was a "good year"

You can read about crime in Vancouver below.
