Just an FYI, it's 18th near 162nd and turns into Burton Road as you get further west, towards Andresen Rd. it's one of those funky streets that magically changes names. (There are several in the county.)

And yes, janb has the correct information on all of this.

So, just for the non-locals... 18th = Burton.

actually, I was thinking 18th, between Grand and Brandt

as it transitions to Burton things improve, but not really terrific.

Need to shop around and get recommendations from folks of like minded values (this is all relative)

East of 205, the 18th/28th area starts picking up, although there are some "70s tract houses" that are to be avoided. There are some very nice areas, in pockets, through there.

Default Help

Hi I am also looking for somewhere to live in Vancouver. Me and my boyfriend are moving over in a month and were wondering where the best place for a young couple would be. Hopefully close to good nightlife but not in any dodgy places which would be full of crime lol. if anyone has any ideas id be very grateful. xx

I really like the area a few blocks off 162/164th. I live around the 28th and 162nd and absolutely love it. Big evergreen trees in the back yard.

I definitely prefer the east side and it has some good restaurants and such. I don't think Vancouver has much of a "night life" but the east side is the best bet IMO.

Vancouver doesn't have much of anything, but strip malls, Starbucks, and gyms.
Small Mall with not very many good stores. The library's are small and lacking
good amount of books for children.
I personally rather live in Portland.
Oh plus there are many job opportunities in Vancouver.
None of the HS's have swimming pools, which is very odd.
Soccer is huge in Vancouver, but baseball is not.
You have middle schools with no baseball fields
and actually haven't seen many baseball field's in
parks.

Consider 'inner' Camas...
very nice library,
Really nice baseball fields (and Soccer, our 'preferred' sport)
Even a pool if you can afford a club (which I cannot)

I'd try to find a place near Garfield Center (upwind of mill)

Nightlife lacking, as the two country bars have closed, and now only pool (billiards, not swimming) bars

I'd take Stevenson if you can find job.

Cheap, NICE pool($2.30). Nice FRIENDLY library, Good brewpub.
You can get extended library options from the web through FVRL and they mail it to you. Get a PO box in Cascade Locks and possibly you could tap into Multnomah County Library. I like to take a weekly trip to Portland, and use libraries in universities and downtown, including the Art museum, which is a great FREE library. Baseball players may be tough to find in Stevenson, but I think Home Valley is pretty active in Baseball (a few minute east of Stevenson) Older kids might have to go to Hood River for competitive ball.
