My husband is a special education teacher, and has a second interview in La Center, WA. We would be relocating from Lander, WY and are VERY excited for the possibilities of being close to culture and activities in Portland. We've always wanted to live in the Pacific Northwest, and are just vibrating with excitement with the opportunity.
While we are thrilled at being close to the music scene, culture, and the hubbub of Portland, we don't want to live in Portland itself. We are looking at Vancouver, specifically northern Vancouver, and the smaller towns north of Vancouver.
We will be coming out there during the week of June 1, and would love some information and honest opinions. We are interested in a town with 4000-40,000 people, with good grocery stores (Safeway, etc), good healthcare, and great schools. A town with older homes (pre-1950) and a Starbucks is always a plus.
Can anyone give me some honest opinions about La Center? What about a great town to raise our incoming-freshman son? We would love to find a school that has a great drama program, too.
