Question Good Car Mechanic - East Vancouver

Any recommendations for an honest, reliable and reasonably priced car mechanic ideally on the East side of Vancouver? We have a VW and a Jeep. Tried Meineke but despite seeming friendly they had me spend over $2000 and still did not get my car problem solved. Not impressed! Hoping for some good alternative recommendations...thanks

I've gotten great service at Casey's Independent Auto. They do good work, it's done when they say it will be done too. The prices are lower than most and they won't try to upsell you anything either.

They shop is easy to miss. They are on the south side of Fourth Plain, just past 121st across the street from the Chevron.

also, if in SE, near Mill Plain check with TopPerformance Auto, I have friends who have been happy with them.

SE 123rd Ave. Vancouver, WA 98683 Phone: 360.892.4388. BRAND NEW LOCATION. 2 Blocks South of Mill Plain on 123 rd Ave.

Gaynor's is usually good as well

For VW, I would use Doublejmotorwerks in NE Portland (Moving this weekend to near Les Schwab, but north of Sandy on 122nd/ just south of Airport Way) or Halsey Automotive at about 7800 NE Halsey (near I-84 and 82nd ave / Elmer's).

Definitely buy your VW parts from Halsey Import Parts (same location), tho Cost Less (Vancouver) is less expensive on Brake Components, but you'll be taking a risk with quality.

If you are a VW nut, don't miss Portland's version of Waterfest (or if you are aircooled, there is a meet for you too (Bugfest, usually at Woodburn Dragstrip) (You can stay connected on vwvortex forum)

Your $2000 repair bill is about 10 to 100 times what I spend on my entire cars, so we might be in a different 'class'. . Tho I recently fixed a car that had been through $1600 in 'dealer' repairs, for under $100 in parts and about 3 hrs of time. I've never been to a 'fix-it-shop' myself, but maybe someday...
