Default Camas schools vs. Vancouver district

We are likely moving to Vancouver this month - just waiting on the final job offer. The homes we like so far are mainly in Camas, although a few are in North Vancouver, I think the N. Salmon Creek area, if I understand it correctly. We have a 9th grader, 4th grader, and 1st grader. I have been trying to get a handle on the quality of the schools in the Vancouver and Camas districts, but it's hard to get much info from just the school's websites and testing data. It is especially important that we get a good high school for the oldest. Does anyone know anything about the quality of the schools in these areas? If we lived in Vancouver, I think our son would go to Skyview, and I like the idea of the Science/Math/Tech magnet there. Do you know if there are good gifted programs in Camas or in Vancouver district, in lower or upper grades? Any info would be so appreciated.

Default Schools in Clark County

If you have test scores, I assume that you have found the OSPI website? (http://www.k12.wa.us) Go into the research/reports area. I know that testing scores are not the total definition of a school but their website provides many years worth of data, so you can see how a school has progressed over the years. Skyview high is one of the best in Clark County. As far as testing, the high schools rank CAM Jr./Sr. high (this is a test-into school in Battleground), then Hockinson High and then Skyview, Prairie, Mountain View or Columbia, Evergreen and then Camas.

If you search houses on the RMLS.com website and put in "chinook" as the elementary, that will give you the good middle (Alki) & high school (skyview) that go along with it. Chinook rates 2nd in the county for Reading and 8th in Math. Camas rates 4th for reading & 2nd for math. I've done a comparison of all of the schools in Clark County and also have a huge school boundries map that I made so that I could see where exactly we need to live. :-)

I have family teaching in the Camas, Evergreeen, and Ft. Vancouver School districts. All of them moved so that their kids could attend Camas schools, if that tells you anything.
