I want to move to Vancouver, BC because things in the US are not improving at all. I can't get a job at all where I'm living, and I can't take it anymore. Its the closest to where I currently live. I also want to go to school there also but the school that I like doesn't have housing for students. Its near Granville Island, so I was hoping that you could find something close to that because I've never been there and i don't know where everything is yet. And thats what I need help with, if you could please help? I have never had a job, and I have a price range of only $0-$600.

So have a look at Craigs List and Kijiji to find some places in your price range.

Make a note of the addresses and then look up the locations on Google maps.

Or better yet, hop on Amtrak to Vancouver and check things out in person.

$600 for rent I would assume? You're not going to find anything.
I assume it's Emily Carr where you want to go to school?
Have you applied already? Have you even checked to see if you can move to Canada?

You might also try this site, but Vancouver is pricey...At the bottom of the page are several communities near Vancouver. (Abbotsford, Surrey, Langly and Maple Ridge.

I hate to tell you this hon, but Vancouver is the very most expensive city in all of Canada and British Columbia is the most expensive province in Canada. If you don't have any money to come on a short visit from Oregon to Vancouver to check it out then you probably don't have enough funds to qualify to emigrate to Canada.

You say you've never had a job. Amongst other requirements you will have to be able to show that you have desireable, proven job skills and that you already have enough funds to support yourself independently when you emigrate here. You will have to show that you won't present a risk of becoming a financial burden on Canadian society and government before they will approve you. I know it sounds like an ungenerous thing to say but there are no freebies for new emigrants coming into Canada and it's much less expensive to live in the USA than it is to live anywhere in Canada.

Have you done the self-assessment test to see if you qualify as an emigrant to Canada? You might want to do that first before you make any other kinds of plans.

I believe in the OP, the member made mention of wishing to attend school in Vancouver, but you make a very good point:

If the member doesn't have enough funds to even visit Vancouver, how on earth does the member plan on paying rent if they do find something suitable?

Yes I realize that. I had read the OP's previous posts on the board during the past few months and after learning he is a young person living at home with a single mother who is also unemployed or unemployable and that the OP has been shopping around asking for help with other locations as well ...... I felt the information I provided was more relevant to the OP's and his mother's real situation.

Are the outer burbs cheaper? Like would Langley or something be more affordable than Van itself?
