Even if it is 85% humidity you never feel it, its not like in Miami. and when the temperatures are cold the humidity makes the temperature more mild. Also we get much more sun than you so dont even try to make an argument on that. In vancouver its 15 degrees the entire year with heavy rain and heavy clouds, and these conditions are not ideal for playing basketball.

But... looking at the bigger picture, weather in canada pretty much sucks everywhere. Sunbelt, USA!!!!

You are totally wrong there Galloway...There is sunshine all year around, but in the winter a lot of it is what we call liquid sunshine...You are way out on temperatures too, but I guess you were joking huh?

Somewhat true.
Most of the time, most people don't really notice the humidity when it's not a heat wave that is.
Maybe 20 days in summer are quite sticky, the rest it's easy to ignore the humidity.

I find between 55-68 F, humidity does nothing to make it feel warmer or cooler,
but most of the year the humidity makes us feel a little colder.
Between 69-74 F humidity doesn't do much.
Between 75-84 F humidity doesn't do a lot to make it more sticky.
85+ F equals heatwave and we don't get many days like that in a normal summer.

But our dollar is still better than yours.

Even Los Angeles is cool during the night. The average temperature in July is 18C

I sort of know what you're talking about; usually the only places with warm nights have hot days.

However, I'm not talking about the average low.
That happens just before sunrise and most people are asleep for that weather.
(which is why I was carefull to mention temperature at sunset)

Our overnight lows are normally anywhere from 50-64 F yet at sunset we are usually 60-74 F.

I hear L.A. averages a high of 82 F and a low of 63-65 F.
Usually the temp at sunset is the mid-point between the high and the low.

*Therefore it seems L.A. at sunset in July is probably normally 68-75 F; still a little cool, but consistantly warmer than Toronto.

Yes and no.
Having moved from L.A. to Toronto last November after 6 years in SoCal, I can say that nights in L.A. are cooler.
However, the summer days are consistently warm/hot. The sun shines pretty much all the time. The evenings are cooler than Toronto's, but it is welcome after a hot day. Unless you live in the (San Fernando) Valley, you don't really need an air conditioner, just fans, and at night you just sleep with the windows open. This is especially true of the South Bay cities, Marina del Rey, and Venice.

Toronto--well, it's hard to say, because this summer (2009) just didn't happen. The sun finally emerged in late Aug/Sept for about two weeks, and that was it. The nights were fairly muggy and warm, and I definitely needed an air conditioner, but oddly enough, the overcast days just felt so cool, especially near the waterfront.

I'd take cooler nights and actual sunshine any day over perpetual humidity and sporadic blue skies! (Of course, the other summers I've been to Toronto were not quite this extreme. Still, the humidity is consistent.)

I think Vancouver may even get a little better weather than Seattle. Many times driving home from Seattle, approaching Vancouver it seems to be a little brighter and drier, also when talking on the phone with friends in Seattle, it can be raining while dry in Vancouver.

All in all though, pretty much the same.

As far as Vancouver not being sunny .. come on now!

May through October is usually great weather, with the odd couple day stints or so or rain here and there. It was scorching hot this summer, in the high 30's for awhile.

Even during the wet, rainy winter you can experience some beautiful mild sunny blue-sky days for wks in a row sometimes. It rains, but we see the sun also.

What's that saying? .. the moment the sun comes out you forget all about the last few days of rain ..

I visited in mid-May for 7 days, and 5 days out of 7 have sunshine; and in mid September for 4 days, 4 days were all sunny.

Vancouver and rain go hand in hand because without the rain, the city wouldn't be so beautiful. Because I want beauty, I don't mind the rain.

Come to San Diego, you'll get sunshine all year round but it is a brown and dry city.

OK, .. thought I'd drop in to smirk a little, (while I can)

.. day number three of sunny and warm, blue-sky, gorgeous fall colours, days in a row. Can't get any better than that!
