Moving from Caledon Ontario to BC been looking at Langley, Surrey, Abbotsford or even as far east as Chilliwack. Job is located in White Rock area.
We currently live in a newer small subdivision surrounded by farms and trails. There are lots of kids in the 5-10 yr age range.
Would love to replicate this.

Looking to raise our 6 yr old son in a safe, family community with good schools.

-I currently drive 45min-60 min each way to work...What is the drive like from Chilliwack to White Rock?

- where is the best place to raise a child, live, play and shop?

Any of the places you mentioned above would be suitable. White Rock also would be suitable.

The drive from Chilliwack to White Rock would take about an hour, maybe a little bit more depending on traffic and weather conditions.

Chilliwack to White Rock commute is now not only a long run, but Cloverdale RCMP specialize in traffic, so fan out in the a.m. and hand out lots of tickets. From Chilliwack you've got the #10 Highway cut or cut down to 16th Avenue and run west, which now is basically a secondary artery, even though it's only one lane!

IMO you might look at enclaves like Cloverdale proper, Sunshine Hills in Delta, or south Brookswood in the Langley area, "Birdland" in north Surrey or across the #1 highway there's a (hopefully) forgotten enclave. That would cut time/cost/commute and still have you a little away from the "hood".

But a question: What motivates your location decision if your're working in White Rock? It's got to be worth the money; the Lower Mainland is it's own economy now, but never has been cheap since 1980. It wasn't that cheap even then except for south of the Fraser River.
