Hi everyone,
I'm an international student looking into a university in Vancouver (UBC) and would like to settle there or somewhere else in Canada -- which I know is not a very simple process and I know I have to prove myself worthy to be able to immigrate. I will probably be a Finance major. I'd be really happy to be there but I wonder what the career opportunities are, at least in the short term (0-5 years) since I will probably pursue a master's or PhD in the long run. I know executive positions are difficult to come by because "it's not a headquarter city" but what about entry and mid-level jobs with decent pays in the financial/banking sector? I have enough money to sustain myself for a while if my starting salary is too low and rent/expenses too high.
Is a UBC degree well-known throughout Canada? In case I have a very hard time finding a decent job in Vancouver (is it like that?), is my degree going to be respected by companies in other cities where there might be shortages in this sector?
So what is it like to be a UBC graduate in Vancouver? Besides Vancouver, where do UBC grads usually go to find jobs?
Thank you for reading!!
