Smile Is end of August still good to visit Vancouver?

Hi,

My gf and I are planning to visit Vancouver near the end of August. Is the weather still nice? And what part of town should we stay in? And where to explore and eat?

We like to stay in the metro, and walkable to quaint eateries and shopping. I hear that it has great cantonese food, any recommendation?

We have only 3 nights to explore?

Oh, and is there any good electronic dance music club?

Thanks!

Chris

The weather in Vancouver can be quite fickle. There's a good chance the weather will be lovely at the end of August, or it could be bad. That's Mother Nature for you.

A central, moderate hotel in Downtown Vancouver is the Century Plaza. It's nice and clean and right where all the action is.

Ubringliten, chances are you're going to get great weather then .. hopefully. One can usually count on gorgeous sunny, and not quite as hot days by then, with deep colours .. sky a vivid blue and the ocean a deep green. One of the nicest times of the summer actually.

Some like staying at the Sylvia right on English Bay .. in the heart of the west end, across from the beach. It's a quaint old hotel, but not sure of the price per room these days .. sylvia hotel vancouver - Google Search

Our friends used to stay at the other end of Denman Street, from the Sylvia .. close to Stanley Park .. at the Times Square Suites where they would rent a kitchenette .. I think for about $125 per night, but again .. not sure of the price today or in August, sylvia hotel Times Square Suites in Vancouver, b.c. - Google Search

But now they stay halfway up Robson at the Pacific Palasades Hotel and like it better .. pacific palisades hotel vancouver - Google Search

Each of these are in the hubbub of the city, not far from beaches, Stanley Park, tons of great eating places and shopping and hustle bustle of people and activity. Robson Street itself is famous for just hanging around people watching, with all the many little places to eat and such.

There are lots of places around, but the Palisades might be the best bang for your dollar. It's got a swimming pool and exercise room, plus a great restaurant and nice balcony, kitchenette .. and in an area that you should get some nice breeze blowing through.

Check them out. Hope you have a great visit!

Late August is statistically the warmest, driest time to be in Vancouver out of the whole year.

Yes, the weather is still nice in late August. That's when I went. I recommend going to Gastown and Grouse Mountain.

Capilano Suspension bridge is worth a visit. For superb views, follow Marine drive through West Vancouver to the beautiful Horseshoe Bay. You could take a ferry to Vancouver Island. Its wonderful!

One of the most spectacular places I've layed eyes on is Howe Sound, 20 - 30 mile stretch of mountains, ocean and islands, between Horseshoe Bay and Squamish.

Thanks everyone! Alot of great suggestions.

We really like the neighborhoods near Stanley Park. Gastown looks quaint from the pictures.

I am so excited!
