My wife and I cross the border about 100 plus times a year. Both ways of course. We have 2 dogs and if you can believe it in all those border crossings, over 400 of them we have never once been asked about the dogs. Dog food is an issue going into the States and we have been asked to show it a few times. Dog food from Canada containing certain things,"Lamb" is not allowed. We just always buy our dog food stateside. The rules for bringing your dog either way are that they have their up to date vacines and proof of that.
One of our dogs was born in Canada and the other we found off the side of the road in rural
Alabama. He is actually an illegal Canadian immigrant. If we ever have a hassle bringing him home to Canada we will claim he's a refugee. He's black and gay and he can't get a fair shake in Alabama.Canadian immigration eats that stuff up you know.

Great post...! I too have crossed the border many times with my dog and only once been asked about whether he was up to date with his rabies vaccination but she didn't even ask to see the papers.

Remember the context guys - this person's moving their dog across the border, they're not just crossing as a tourist. So this is considered an animal import, not merely crossing the border with your pet. They'll need to look at the websites Zoisite gave. The border guards might not ask to see the required paperwork, but if they *do* ask and you don't present it, they have the right to refuse you entry. Why risk it?
