Hi!
We will be moving from Colorado later this years. We are a family of 5. We would like to have an idea of a "whole" house moving expense?
Can you also suggest any moving company? Is it more expensive than moving within US?
Thanks!
I'm a trucker and believe me I hear a lot of horror stories regarding moving. I think your best bet by far is to get quotes from a few of the long time well established moving companies Like Allied van lines and such like. They may be a little more than some no name mover but they are pros and there will be no suprises when it comes time to pay the bill. You could check with your local chamber of commerce and get your quotes from companies they recommend.

I called some moving companies and asked for rates from NYC to Seattle and from NYC to Vancouver, BC. Rates were, basically, the same.
detonate everything bulky; cross country moves are "cubed" so buy your mattress, couch, bureaus, and such when you get here. Family of five? jettison a lot of kids toys (light, once again cubed); hard to do but could easily cut your cost in half.
Unclear: you're coming from Colorado and going to Vancouver, B.C.?? prepare "settlers effects" list.
Thanks for your answers!
We had two estimates already. We need to bring the car with us so it will be a little more that an US moving. Both of them are aroun 9000 K. The company will reimbourse up to 10000 so, even with the car, we are good. They overestimate, we don't have a lot of furniture but for sure a lots of books and they are heavy
I wish you all the best in your new home. Van is just such a beautiful place. So is Colorado of course but Van is just so different. I can't convince my wife to move there so I just visit 3 or 4 times a year.
