Guys I've been bad..... I was a strict vegetarian for over 20 years and just recently around 06 07 I start eating meat again.. Now I'm trying to be a strict vege again but its hard!! I'm always on the go,I'm always eating out! I wont lie sometimes I go and just buy the cheapest fastest thing to eat and end up with something that is counteractive to me wanting to be Vegetarian again. I'm good when it comes to eating red meat but sometimes I'll have fish or chicken and I want to have a complete meat free diet in my crazy busy life.... Any suggestions anyone?

But if you are eating meat anyway....

Many Subway's have a veggie patty sandwich. Sometimes it is not even on the menu, you have to ask.

I think there are a couple of threads on here on eating out. Indian buffets are often a good choice. Greek/Middle Eastern places often have hummus, tabbouleh etc and pita breads.

Visit the local salad bar and load up. Bonus points if they have nuts and seeds so you can get some protein.

I dont eat any red meats....the meats I ate were fish and chicken. Why would I want a veggie burger fried on the same surface as regular meat if I'm trying to be a vegetarian?

i think they have some sort of veggie patty thing at Subway, but that might just be a Chicago region thing.

One of the pitfalls of being a vegetarian and eating out is that our food is most often prepared in kitchens where meat products are also prepared.

You, and only you, can decide how strict you want to be about this. If you want to be "pure vegan" you will need to plan ahead and pack your food or seek out vegan establishments.

Just for general sanitation reasons, I try to visit the quasi-fast food places when I travel, including Quizno's, Subway, Moe's Southwest, Jason's Deli, and the like. I find it really easy to have a vegan meal at these places. Plus, it's simple enough to ask the preparers to use a clean knife, one that hasn't touched meat or to wipe down the griddle. I'll admit that I tend to be easy to please; I'm happy with a simple veggie sub or a bean burrito.
