With a strong antenna you can get 88.1 from Cal State Long Beach. It's also available online jazzandblues.org. Otherwise, 88.3 plays jazz in the later hours.

Default Is there an African American community in Oxnard?

I love the Latino culture, but just wondered if the African American culture is represented there as well?

If you're at home and have cable TV it also caries radio. If you're digital then it will likely carry specific music channels in addition to local radio.

The African American culture is "limited" here..I'm African American so perhaps I can be a source of culture for you! Seriously though, we only make up like probably less than 2% of the county so not many of us here. As far as the culture goes, there are certain things you will see like many go to church on Sundays, special events that local sororities and fraternities have, there are also cultural events like Martin Luther King activities and several events during the Black History Month festivities.

Oxnard and all of Ventura county should be able to pick up LA radio stations and there are several jazz stations including KCRW, KPFK [part of the time], K-Jazz, KTWV the Wave, KKJZ.
