That is awesome he is from Simi!! I know him and his parents.
This record really does seem like a "squeeze". I mean, this is not really such a record considering nearly any advanced skater can match or break it if they really wanted to. I can even get really close. Hehe!

Simi Valley is home to several professional skateboarders... Paul Rodriguez, Mike Mo Capaldi, Torey Pudwill. These guys are some of the best in the world right now. Mike & Torey have grown up in Simi all their lives. Now around 20/21 yrs old. These guys are on magazine covers, TV etc.. I recently saw a huge movie sized skateboard poster of Torey at LAX. Paul has a Nike ad on TV. Mike Mo has professional skateboards (sold worldwide) with a photo if Simi, cartoon with Simi Valley in caption and a skateboard with "Ticos Tacos" (on LA Ave.) logo on it. That hole in the wall taco joint is now heard of around the world thanks to Skateboarding.
My point is, Simi kids are not as "bored" as you might think! Simi Valley (in terms of Skateboarding) has been VERY proud long before little Gage came along.

Hey, I was an original skateboarding girl while growing up in Simi, LOL! My comment about the kids being "bored" was directed at those who try to claim that Simi is a sleepy little burg where everyone is bored stupid

Ever been to Skatelab in Simi Valley? If you were a skate girl in the 80's/70's/60's you will really appreciate the vintage skateboard museum they have on display. You will likely spot a couple of boards you may have had back in the day. It's an actual California museum.

...and yeah you sure are right about the kids being bored in Simi. Skateboarding is about all they got.
