Cops attitudes in Ventura County
I have read on this site and other sites about the police in LA county and OC county being very rough and tough towards people. I have only been to CA on vacation, with no encounters with the police. Is police corruption and brutality also an issue in Ventura county as well? In CA in general?

I have not had any negative interactions with cops here. I have been pulled over but it was my fault but otherwise no issues.

Ad big as the force is for both the OC and LA (by the way both counties include quite a few police agencies), is the odds here would be a dew bad cops, but in general they follOw procedures and you should not have an issue. I would be more concern with a oiling high crime areas than treatment from the police.

I never have a problem I just keep a couple $20 bills in my pocket.
Kidding, kidding.
I have never had a problem in 46 years. I do remember having a speeding ticket reduced though. I was driving a 67 Camaro doing 85 in a 40 zone. A cop that I grew up with was in the hospital, he had been hit by a drunk. I mentioned my friends name and how he was going to get a good laugh out of my speeding ticket when I went to visit him in the hospital later that day. The cop that stopped me told me "Did I say that you were doing 85 in a 40 zone? I meant 50 in a 40 zone." Smaller ticket and easier on the driving record. LOL

Low crime = not much for cops to do. So yeah, they'll pop you for ridiculous things such as no front license plate or tinted front windows. I once received a no front plate "fix it" ticket then went to the police station to get it signed off. The cop who signed off laughed and asked "they still give tickets for this?"
I've also been pulled over a few times at night for no reason other than I was allegedly "swerving in the lane" aka they wanted to see if I was DUI. It was really a waste of time. I was the only person on the freeway and at the time drove a "tricked out" (for lack of a better term) car, the cop probably figured I was an easy arrest or something. I was 110% sober both times this happened. My car wasn't too crazy but being that it was a 96 VW it screamed "young person who is likely out partying and doesn't know their rights".
Lets see... it took an hour to get them to respond to the car accident I was in. If you see more than 2 cop cars with their red and blues on, they're probably harassing skateboarders. If your friend's car gets broken into, they will send the volunteer officers aka senior citizens.
Oh yeah, the one time I received a speeding ticket in my entire life, I was not actually speeding. I was dropping my friend off at his house in a neighborhood I had driven in for years. I specifically did not speed because I knew all of the neighbor kids who played in the streets and front yards. Apparently I was enough of a threat for the officer to call for a second unit and also take an hour to write me a ticket. I assume this was also due to the appearance of my car at the time. I should also note that the officer wrote down the wrong street name of the incident and the wrong vehicle on the ticket.
Regardless of the bad taste left in my mouth by the TOPD and VCSD I always treated them with respect. I always had my hands at 10 and 2 with the motor off and keys placed on the dash. I always informed them of the movements I would make such as "I am going to reach into my glove box to get my registration for you." Respect and politeness will get you a lot farther than being rude. I just wish they would recognize that too.

Hmm, this isn't too encouraging, but it isn't as bad as I thought, either. Sigh.

It could certainly be worse. I was also a teenager/early 20's when all of this happened. They do seem to target that demographic and leave the older, higher tax paying folks alone for the most part.

I have never had any issues with any police in Ventura County. The Ventura City Police especially are very professional as I would expect all police officers to be.
