I would start here Apartments for Rent - PadMapper Apartment Search for Oodle, Apartments.com, Rent.com, Kijiji, and Craigslist Apartments
and filter as required

Archstone has apartments in Ventura:

Find Apartments for Rent | Archstone Apartments

For Ventura County craigslist is often the best place to look.

I would seriously NOT recommend Archstone Ventura Colony see link for important details,

Their other complexes look good though.
