Default Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital will be joining HCA

Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) is acquiring Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital (known as TOSH within the area) HCA also owns Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks. Since 2005 when it was built, TOSH has been a private hospital owned by the Doctors that practice there. They are a small 21 bed specialty hospital. Due to the nature of healthcare and the cost to run a hospital the Doctors decided to sell to HCA. What is interesting to note is that the reason for building the private hospital was to get away from Los Robles and the parent company HCA. The Doctors wanted to have more controll over how things ran and one way to do that was to build or buy their own hospital. Both hospitals serve a differant client base and differing needs. TOSH is strictly elective surgery. They do not have an ER, maternity, or many of the things that a full acute care hospital would have. Many would say that both hospitals will compliment each other.
