My question is...if Oxnard is that bad, do I really want to live in Ventura because they are so close?!

Thinking about Simi Valley, too, but it's surrounded by fault lines and that makes me a little paranoid.

So far I like the looks of San Luis Obispo...it's just a little farther away from my relative who lives in Lancaster.

Any opinions?
With several hospitals in the immediate area, I think you'd have more job opps in Ventura area.

What don't you like about Oxnard? Crime is higher in Ventura and Santa Barbara than Oxnard. If you're going by hearsay rather than your own research, you're missing out on a great place to live. That said, if you only want to live around Caucasians and don't like mixed-ethnicity cities, Oxnard is a bad fit. Go SLO.

Holy cow, 4/23/06. This IS old. How did this thread resurface? I thought some of the remarks seemed out of date. Next time check time stamps.

Can we close this thread? We are hitting the 4 year mark and I am sure that the OP has found something by now that works for her.

My husband is going to work in Port Hueneme, we do not want to live there or in Oxnard what are other nearby locations that are nice and safe?

Can you be more specific about why you don't want to live in Oxnard or Port Hueneme? It will help us determine options for you. If crime is your issue, then Oxnard is safer than Ventura. Just FYI.
