Hi, I know I live in Moab now, but I like to keep up on your great forum between Moab and Ventura County CA when I've got the time to surf. I lived in Ventura for over a bit over 40 years. It would be very nice to have a forum dedicated to those that live/work in Ventura County. It's so big now, it cannot and should not be lumped in with Los Angeles. Also, a Santa Barbara County one would be nice also. Things are growing soooo much there that I think that they are both needed. Yes??? or No??? Please vote so the webmaster will know if we want it or not, k?

I agree with Escape, Ventura isn't big, at less than 800,000 it's especially not big enough for it's own forum. If we add Ventura then we should have an Imperial County forum as well LOL

Ventura is no longer 15,000 like when I grew up there.... I know there's no real current population stats, but I can pretty much be sure of these numbers:
ventura city: 180,000
ojai and valleys: 30,000
Simi Valley, Moorpark, Somis area: 250,000
oxnard and the port of h: 200,000 (if not more)
thousand oaks, newbury park, etc. 200,000
I'd say a half million people easy in Ventura County, maybe more, and it's still growing. I've even excluded some of the more exclusive neighborhoods like Lynn Ranch and Lake Sherwood area and valley (although, I think there are more horses than people back there lol). So what population do we have to get up to go get a "county" forum? Thanks for the info folks.

I'd rather not simply because (I am lazy and) I can scan one forum for all posts rather than having to scan multiple forums. Also, Ventura County is seamlessly aligned with Los Angeles for jobs, real estate trends, and transportation. Besides, Ventura County threads seem to be about 5% of the LA or California threads.

Thanks for the info, now I know why there isn't one. I doubt that you are lazy. lol When we lived there, we natives didn't really like being lumped in with L.A. for ANY reason lol ...Ventura County just got too big and too busy and too much crime, so we sold out and got out. Still got land for sale up on the hill with a million dollar view of the Conejo Grade and the Conejo Valley... 4th of July you can see fireworks from the beach in Ventura, and over the hills looking into Simi Valley toward the Ronald Reagan Library... and we still have one Corvette in the barn so we still have reason for a link there anyways. lol Anyhow... If you know or see anyone on the forum looking to move to Moab, point them in my direction, it's waaaaayyyy different than living in So Cal, both good things and bad things. Have a good one people!

btw, you can close, cancel, delete this thread if you want to, it went noplace really.

With close to 1 million people in Ventura County that beats a few states and they have there own threads. Why not a Ventura County Thread? Wyoming has less people and they have a thread all to themselves. We in Ventura County have the LA thread to visit and post information about a county that is nothing like LA. IMO I would start a Ventura / Santa Barbara county thread. Many of us get lost in the LA thread.

Gee, I didn't think to include S.B. with Ventura County. I think that's a better idea. How 'bout it Charles, Brea, Escape??? Makes a good point I think. Did I give up too easily on this one? maybe.........

I can see having a Central Coast subforum but I don't know if I'd consider Ventura to be Central Coast. I know when I drive north up the 101, I feel so much more relaxed and feel I've really left LA when I come down the hill into Camarillo so maybe they should be together.

I think a majority of us in Ventura County consider ourselves to be the top side of Southern California. If you consider all of LA county to be in Southern California and Ventura is further South than Palmdale then Ventura County would need to be part of Southern California. Santa Barbara County is a Central coast county I would think anyway, although I always thought of them as part of Southern California as well. Maybe a better idea is what we call the tri-counties area, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties. Seems that our local TV station KEYT Channel 3, an ABC affiliate, that is based in Santa Barbara has always called the area the tri counties. My thought has always been since they report the news for these three counties that the area relates to that connected idea anyway.
