My brother and I, are about to move somewhere, to either somewhere around Ventura CA, Myrtle Beach SC, or Panama City FL. I currently live in Oklahoma City, and hate it here, we both do. We are going to move in the summer of 09, and are looking for places that have a high "turn around rate" (The percentage of which a home's value increases every year, I forgot could someone help me out with this too?) and I am attempting to convince him to move to CA, I have looked into these "mobile homes", where they have 2-3 bedrooms and an alright Sq Ft for around 100,000. We only need to live there untill 2012 when I receive my trust fund money, but he is worried about the cost of living, we are going to start saving up and I am wondering what I can say to help convince him.

PS. Any help at ALL regarding all 3 of those states is apreicitated.

PSS. What is that word?

You know you'll still have to pay to rent a place to park that $100k trailer, right? Forget about real estate appreciation for a while. Haven't you heard about the real estate bubble bursting, crashing, and burning? And completely forget making money on a trailer. They go down in value, not up.

How did you pick those three locations? Did you throw a dart at a map? Have you been to any of them? Do you know anything about any of them? What kind of work will you be doing to pay the bills? What are you qualified to do?

Default Mobile homes do not appreciate unless real estate does

When real estate was going up, up, up, so did mobile homes. Now, with the market down the drain, forget it. I sell mobile homes for a living and yes, it is more affordable than a regular house but space rent is getting out of control and for 2009, it is going up 5.7%, the highest in the 7 years I have been in this business. Average is $800 a month plus your mortgage of course. Figure 9% interest for 20 years and you need 10% down. That's about another $810. Still interested? I'll sell you one :-)
