I'd already be out if not for some family issues and then financial ones...I'm sort of stuck here for the time being.

But while I'm here, I'm going to make the rich invaders miserable. I think I got one tailgating socialist state rep mad today (I can drive 10 miles an hour if some socialist wants to tailgate).

Visit the real Vermont sometime. lol

With all their children (if they have any) leaving the state, I don't see how the invaders can win in the long run. They're dying off as they get old or overdose.

I really hope to be gone before next month.
And let me be clear, as I've said in other posts, I've got no problem with folks who come from wherever (CA, the Sudan, NJ) so long as they're contributing to the state. If you don't plan on working here, or work in another state, in my eyes, you're part of the problem. Sorry, but thats the way I see it. VT has serious problems with the so-called "brain drain", with young people leaving the state in droves, and with the cost of living. If you come here planning to work and live in VT on VT wages, you're not part of the problem.

That said, I can see the writing on the wall. VT is not going to get better for the young and educated anytime soon. I plan on getting out of here before next month.
Otherwise I might turn into the real Travis Bickle, although I'm not a hackie.

Oops. Now my post will be deleted for being off topic (which it certainly is).

I figure we Natives are going to win either way: we'll replace the invading socialists over time simply from them dying off, or, the predicted 30 years of stagnant economy will drive them all out.

This discussion really should be broken out into it's own thread. It may be offensive, but some of those planning on coming here to "retire early" might at least get a fair warning as to the attitudes of a substantial portion of the population. We're way off topic now, but a thread like this would be representative of opinions I run into regularly.
I know some on here will argue that this attitude is insignificant, that its not common. BS. I've worked plenty of blue-collar jobs in and around Chittenden County, and I can attest to the fact that my posts on here are mild compared to things I've heard. The anti-trustafarian attitude is very widespread, and not far below the surface. You just need to run in the right circles to come across it.
BTW, two points on your "30 years" thesis.
1) The state of the economy is irrelevant if you have a lifetime's worth of money in the bank.
2) 30 years might be lowballing it. VT is the next CA.
