Default Hey Waitsfield...

What's happening to The Very Small Donut Company? Their hours have been erratic. When I called to find out if they'd be open on our next visit, the taped message said they were for sale. I'm heartbroken! No maple donuts in the morning...disaster.

When did you call? I think they got new owners a couple of months ago. I'll check it out tomorrow. Sugarbush's grand reopening on Sat, Warren parade on wednesday. Doesn't get any better than that.

I called June 27 in the AM and heard the message. While I'm at it, I read in The Valley Reporter plans for a subdivison on Bragg Hill had been turned down - is that plan dead?

As the phone message said it is closed and for sale. My neighbor's daughter who started the business mentioned the donut machine is worn out and has to be replaced. It's been awhile since I have been in there even tho I walk into Mehuron's probably 4/5 times a week and never noticed it being closed.

As far as the subdivison on Bragg Hill, not aware of any subdivisions up there. There's the 5 up near Sugarbush, one being developed by Les Otten and the one over on Randall Rd in Fayston. My neighbor, a longtime valley real estate broker doesn't know one either. Thinking it might be the one on Randall Rd your asking about?

That's what I get for posting on only one cup of coffee. Here's the link...The Valley Reporter - News and views from the Mad River Valley...but it's dated September 2006. I wasn't paying attention.

Ahhhh....that's not really the Bragg Hill area altho technically it's at the very bottom of Bragg Hill. That's Irasville, an unincorporated commercial area within Waitsfield.

It's right behind the western side of the Mad River Green Shoppping Center containing the Post Office and other businesses including Jay's Restaurant. The new road they would build behind the shopping center would connect with Bragg Hill Rd at the bottom where it comes to Rt 100, behind the doctor's office.

Haven't heard a thing about it since then so that project appears dead but Brothers Const probably want to do something with that property someday.

Interestingly the town of Waitsfield is at the end of the public comment period for a comprehensive plan for Irasville, the last meeting was abit heated. I'll check with my neighbor if there is any additional info I can pass along.

Just got back from several days in Waitsfield. Stunningly beautiful and very wet. Couldn't use the swimming holes. Water moving too fast and e-coli count too high.

The food was awful. Ate at Jays first night-how does that place stay open? John Egan's Big World Pub Grill & Cafe was pleasant but mediocre, Michael's Good To Go made really great BBQ pork and key lime pie, everything else was so-so. Waitsfield restaurants must train cooks and chefs during the summer and save the big guns for ski season.

A lot of homes and businesses with For Sale signs. What's up, bad ski season or natural turnover?
