I realize that for some of you this will not be welcoming news but you can't stop mother nature. It snowed last night, it's still snowing at the higher elevations. Also contrary to most reports there is still lots of color around. Both shots were taken today, it was raining all day in the valley and the base of Sugarbush. Lastly, Wednesday was our last day on the water. Started out abit chilly, 39F but the afternoon was sunny and warmer.

Didn't you have snow around this time last year? I seem to remember some mid-October snow. Those photos are beautiful, by the way.

Definately snow out where I went today. Made it good for scouting out a hunting spot.

Nice pictures.

It snowed last year on Oct 3 but only above 1500' which means summit to base snow. It melted within a couple of days. In my personal memory bank every year we got early snow we had a bad snow year. The only solace is that last years snow totals won't be hard to beat. BTW the storm this past weekend dropped 20+ on the upper mountain. Played havoc with the New England Disc Golf Championships which we hosted on Sat. I was impressed that 74 out of the 90 invited showed up and competed.

I don't know how much Jay Peak got, but how does the old saying go? Six weeks until it'll be in the valleys - as in staying. Ain't it strange how almost all of it landed right on the trails ...

I think it's more that the trails are bare and the snow didn't still all that well to the tree tops.

Could be an early winter

from NPR
"Vermont Agency of Transportation officials say they've closed Route 108 due to snow, forcing commuters who use the Stowe-to-Jeffersonville pass to find alternate routes."
