I just had some visitors over from the UK who couldn't stop remarking on how they felt they'd been transported to rural France (minus some of the vineyards) while driving through Canada on our way to Montreal. They were also surprised to find how European Old Montreal managed to stay (the buildings, the food, the atmosphere, etc), despite the hundreds of years and distance between France and French Canada.
