We'll either be finding new jobs or telecommuting. Not sure which yet. I'd love to telecommute, but that means becoming a contract employee, which means no health benefits. Can't really do that with kids, so if we're going to have to pay for our own health insurance, we need to find a place where the cost of living is super low.

If I had my way, I think I could handle the northern Yukon, but for some reason the wife isn't going for that.

I've got to tell you guys, I really enjoyed reading this thread! All of the intelligent, well researched and well-thought out dialogue really excited me. I hope that Mark S., Georgia and all the other good posters on here get involved in the government and do something with that winning combination of intelligence and being informed. I'm extremely liberal (except with the issue of illegal immigration which I feel should be stamped out immediately!) but I find even the most conservative posts thought provoking and good points when well thought out and intelligently posted. Kudos to you guys, hope things work out for ya.

Have you made your visit to VT yet?

It's "peak foliage" right now. Too colorful for me, but pretty dramatic if you've never seen it.

My wife and I drove up the back way, through The Champlain Islands to Montreal last weekend. I wore a T-Shirt on my bicycle all day, and we took a leisurely tour of the Lachine Canal/Atwater Market/Lachine Rapids park area. I just can't believe somebody had the genius to put a bike path in the spectacular area we rode through. In this sense it's very similar to The Burlington Bike Path and the Colchester Causeway.

Come visit before stick season will ya?

Stick season is right now - all the leaves have fallen and there is no snow. It's not a real season...just something us locals call this time of year.
