Ok...our friends hit Rockart (smoked porter was smooth) and headed to HF. What's the secret on the weekends to avoiding a 2 hour wait? They waited an hour and had to leave for a prior engagement. No beer

We are limited to Saturdays but said we'd give it a try this weekend. Tips?

Later in the 12-5 sometimes is better.....maybe 3pm or something, by then they have hit their groove, the inital line is probably gone and they can handle a steady flow.....

Hit there on a Friday and was there with only a couple other people.

I like his policy on Ephraim......time to take a stand against some BS.

whoa! talk about bad timing. Saturday was a special event - releasing some of his limited edition bottles.
There were several hundred people there. He does four or five of these a year. Most Saturdays you only have to wait fifteen minutes tops.

what a bummer

Has anyone tried Flood Suds? I can actually buy it at the co-op without a long drive.

LOL.....thanks! I was the one to convince him to go Saturday since he was so close at Rockart. Hopefully, we'll make it this weekend. He would have waited except for a previous obligation even at 2 hours. I owe him a growler at least for the effort.

OK, I bought a couple of bottles and tried it today at lunch. Flood Suds is supposed to be a "Belgian-inspired Wit Beer." I don't know which Belgium they're referring to: Belgium, Wisconsin? It's a very light beer with little taste, and it isn't going to win any awards. At $12 for 750 ml, I hope at least $11 is going to aid Vermont farmers affected by Hurricane Irene. But then who would expect a UVM agronomist to know anything about beer-making. Sometimes I get the impression that microbreweries are a fad supported by trust fund kids who compete with each other to have bragging rights to drinking obscure beers that their friends haven't tried yet.

the Burlington brewfest is going on so the brewery will be more crowded this week than usual too.

We're heading up anyway as it's our last free weekend for awhile. Hopefully the Brewfesters will be headed away from HF Bringing plenty of cash and a cooler.

Maybe hit Rockart on the way home. Any good lunch spots near HF or other sights in the area? 2 hour drive for us, so we may as well check it out while we're there.
