Apparently "Shed" is a new/revival company, or they just took the name of a company that used to be in Stowe. I picked up a 6pk of their IPA. Haven't tried it yet. Anyone going to Siptemberfest?
The Shed was bought by Otter Creek. I don't remember if the brewpub closed and they bought the equipment and recipes or if they're keeping the brewpub open. All I know is that they are bottling Shed recipes at Otter Creek. I've seen Mountain Ale and IPA in bottles. They're distributed along with Otter Creek brands.
Just saw a few articles. I guess this is old news but just started seeing the beer around recently. I am sort of surprised it would make much sense for Otter Creek to buy it since they are already Long Trail/Otter Creek/Wolavers unless that has changed.

I just tried a Shed IPA and found it mediocre at best. Also tried a Lawson's Triple Play IPA, which was significantly better but nothing to write home about. I have a couple of bottles of Fayston Maple Imperial Stout but haven't tried it yet. I think I'd like Lawson's beer more if it cost half as much.

If Lawson's were half the price it would probably sell out in a few hours, not a few days as it currently does. For the 3 retailors in Vermont their profit margin is 15/20% depending on the beer. It's a very small batch nano brewery and it appears Sean wants to keep it that way. Prices is all about supply and demand. Plus the cost for hops and barley has gone thru the roof with the drought. There is also alot of maple in the Imperial Stout and with the very poor sugaring season last year maple is way up as well.

I'm not criticizing Lawson and understand the high unit cost of small batches. From the standpoint of a Vermont consumer, his beer is very expensive, almost up there with single malt whiskies. He makes good beer by Vermont standards, but at a poor value. I don't mind supporting him from a local business standpoint, but still I don't think you get a good value for the money. I love the Warren Store and will continue to buy his stuff, with a few grumbles now and then. Heady Topper is a better beer than any of Lawson's that I've tried so far, but the business trajectory of The Alchemist is a bit of a turnoff to me, a post-capitalism thinker. In a way I would prefer it if Lawson continued just the way he does - he just better make truly outstanding beers.
Heddy usually comes to the Warren Store on Friday and it has a similar demand as Lawson does. The cannery is expanding but currently the supply can be spotty. During the last holiday weekend(Labor Day) the cannery was out so many retailers didn't have any to sell. The 4 pack plastic holder is way cool in that if you have some loose cans and space in the 4 pack, you can just snap them back in.
BTW there is a beer festival at MRG this weekend as well as one in Killington. Met a couple of out of state brewers from the Killington festival today who drove up to Warren to buy Lawsons. The owner of Founders Brewery in Michigan stopped into the Warren Store a few days ago while on a leaf peeping vacation and it turns out the Warren Store might be carrying their beer in the near future. I am not familiar with it but the beer specialist at the Warren Store says it's great beer. Any one familiar with Founders?
A brewery in Maine in collaberation with Lawson, I think it's called The Maine Brewery Co.? has produced some popular beers sold at the Warren Store. The last batch was called Mean Old Tom.

Pretty sure Otter Creek makes it.
