Hello,

As a 2005 grad. of Lebanon Valley College in Central Pa (Near Hershey) and living in a teacher saturated area, I have found getting a full-time salaried job a little difficult in this area. I have been thinking about making the move north to up-state Vermont, Maine, or New York and have been doing a lot of research in all three states.

From what I've seen, I have been very impressed with all three. However, the input of actual people can be much more telling then facts and data. Input on teaching and living in any of these areas would be a huge help.

What is the job outlook for a guy with El. ed/Special ed. certification?
What places should I focus my time on, and are there any areas that I should try to avoid?
Info. on housing, should I look to rent, or is it worth my time to buy right away?

I plan looking for a job for next school year (2007-2008), so I have time to do a lot more research.

Any and all information with be a big help in my search.

Thanks

Please feel free to PM me and I'll help as best I can. I can point you to some links to sites at which there's a lot of info consolidated into one place. This may save you time and make things a bit more transparent.

Meanwhile, you may find the threads on Burlington VT and related topics worth a look. There are resources there you may find helpful. I'm in Burlington, right across from Upstate New York. I was born in Maine.
