For good or for bad.... I got the job! lol

So now starts the search for housing, and moving. Thanks for the insight to the area.

Congratulations! "I got the job" isn't something we hear nearly enough of these days. Good luck with the rest and let us know how it goes.

I would suggest looking into Wallingford, Shrewsbury, even parts of Clarendon, and depending upon where in Tinmouth [as parts of it are very rural]...Mendon is nice too and if you are skiers or want to become skiers, Mendon is closer to Killington/Pico mountain resorts.

The best thing about Tinmouth is how rural it is (I'd want a 4 wheel drive vehicle though, lots of dirt roads). But I wouldn't live right by the channel.

Both of my parents are from rutland vt, all of my relative still live in rutland or surrounding towns. Theres a lot to love about rutland! The people are friendly, there is country farmland beauty and there's a city with plenty to do. There are always those low income areas but they are few and far between, overall i feel rutland has so much to offer. if you are a skier you will love the location of rutland. it is safe, and there are many family friendly neighborhoods. I would say rutland could be called a blue collar city.

There is rutland hospital which is a nice facility, a smaller hospital but services a large number of surrounding areas. There are also several clinics and private practices that would hire RN for a number of specialities.

What's up with West Rutland? Is it a seperate town (seperate schools, etc) or is it a section of Rutland city? I've seen some nice houses that appear to be more rural (land).

BTW. Is there any traffic (i.e. rush hours) in Rutland? It looks like there are only a couple highways leading into/out of it.

Yes. There's West Rutland, Center Rutland, Rutland Town, and Rutland City. All used to be just Rutland but were split up in the late 1800's to make things work better (in theory). West Rutland is more rural and much better than the city IMHO.

Traffic gets slow on route 7 and surrounding roads in the morning and later as people go to and leave work. There's some shortcuts in some cases if you know them but as more people take them the side roads get bad too. Route 7 is an important highway and cuts right through the city, and on top of that, we've got train tracks crossing it and some other important roads (including route 4).

How about snow plowing? Is it common for roads to go unplowed for days? What roads are plowed... state, county back roads?
