Default Green / Sustainable Building Design in Vermont

Are there companies in Vermont that design environmentally friendly houses and buildings, for people living off-grid, or wanting low energy bills and heating bills? Using renewable energy and sustainabe design principles?

I'm from the UK and this area is becoming important over there. Is there demand for this sort of thing in Vermont? And what companies are out there and in which cities?

Thanks for your help

Nick

There is someone in Hinesburg doing a small (3 or 4 units) subdivision which is off the grid. I wish I could remember the name. If you call the Hinesburg Town Hall and as the Planning Dept, they should be able to tell you. It's just south of town on Route 116.

People like to talk about being green but I'd say there isn't a whole lot of green building going on here.
Brattleboro has Building Green magazine in town and a few solar panel companies.
Yes some folks live off the grid, heat with wood, have composting toilets but it's not the norm or is it big business.
