Crazy crazy summer weather!

I feel like pretty soon I'm going to have to invest in an AC!

Some people are wondering how it can be so warm and above normal without many 90s. I have to remind them (and myself) that normal is Low 60s for lows and Low 80s for highs. So it doesn't have to be 90s.

mid-upper 80s during the day is above normal.
mid-upper 60s at night is above normal.

At least we're getting some breaks in between. Next week should be interesting. Cool and Dry!

Number of 90s so far in 2014 up to 7/23.

Burlington 3
Concord 3
Boston 4
Bridgeport 1
Portland 0

Hartford(BDL) 10 meanwhile Hartford(HFD) only 3.

I'm seeing some awesome Hiking days coming up!! (cool and dry)

Latest GFS says single digits(C°) next Wednesday morning in the Northeast at 850 level. Below normal much of the U.S

Let me explain this map..

This is the latest output from the GFS for hour 144 which is Wednesday 8am.
It's for the 4500 foot level.

The colors represent above and below normal (obviously blue = below normal)
The lines on the map show the temperature in Celsius at that level.

So Vermont is between the 5-10°C. That means the high peaks will be in the 40s.

Looking at the latest... Get your outdoor stuff done today or Sunday morning. That's the best times even though today could bring some scattered summer storms as well.

The large storm over Southern Canada right now is going to dive southeast towards Great Lakes. Have to see if a new storm develops around NYC and merges with it. That would bring strong storms to the area.

If it doesn't and the Parent low just curls north back into Canada then the storms stay further north.

FYI.... a 996mb storm would be 16mb stronger than normal this time of year. We don't get strong storms like this on land in the summer!

Expect Rain and Storms Sunday afternoon and Monday in the Northeast. A Fall pattern for sure. Interesting to see this!!

After that.. it's Fall like temps for couple days. Here's a tid bit from NWS Burlington.

5 TO 10 DEGREE BELOW NORMAL MAX TEMPS ARE EXPECTED TUESDAY WITH
CLOUDS AND SHOWERS. HIGHS TEMPS WILL ONLY REACH THE UPPER 60S TO
LOWER 70S WITH 850 TEMPS ONLY AROUND +7C.

Looks like more on the way as the big Upper Level low spins around

There was hail that fell in Williston VT.
Tornado in MA

Current Radar. Look at the spin.

37° at Saranac Lake right now. 59 in Montgomery Alabama. Both about 12 below normal.
48 Morrisville. 52 Burlington.

Those aren't the actual lows. We'll know those in couple hours.
