My land is weird. It's a southern slope at about 1900 feet elevation. Sometimes when it's raining in the village (almost 1,000 feet lower) in fall or spring or even winter it'll be snowing at my place. But, this time of year the village and other low areas gets a frost and I don't. It's often a few degrees warmer during the early or late frosts or freezes, yet it can be colder at other times. It doesn't really make sense to me, I know cold air will settle in low areas but this is a bit odd, but I like the micro-climate I have. I have peach trees in Essex County and other fruit trees that shouldn't grow there. I'm surrounded by zone 3 for plant hardiness purposes but have a zone 4 at my place. So needless to say the frosts and freezes just missed my sweet potatoes.

Groan.....I guess the nice sunny weather couldn't last lol. I saw sleet coming down on Mansfield yesterday, at least per the radar. Not sure if it changed to snow at any point.

I'm seeing this rainy pattern continue for us all of next week though? Is it from the same system?

Sunday-Monday is the big storm coming up the coast. Irene look alike in regards to the path but also has a ton of liquid as well, so heads up.

Systems rarely stall at our latitude so I had to check why into next week....

Looks like the Jet stream dips south of Vermont after this storm passes Monday, and so you have instability around as well as Lake effect showers that might reach VT...cold air aloft so clouds will be around with showers/flurries.... and then another front moves in Thursday..

Enjoy today and tomorrow!

Nice on Stowe!

Jay peak as well.

Have to see with this next storm how fast the cold air can come rushing in. Might be some more for the mountains. Euro model says NC and Virginia mountains get snow accumulations.

Well that was a bit of a scary night. Wind was brutal, I hunkered down in the basement with the dogs. Several trees down around the house, no power from about midnight to just now - 10 hours total, which is not all that bad considering the severity of the storm.

Hope everyone made it through okay.
